TREASURER

Who are we?
Tenants’ Association De Eerste Kamer represents the interests of students who rent a DUWO housing in The Hague. We stand up for the tenant’s rights and monitor DUWO’s obligations. The board of De Eerste Kamer currently consists of four board members: the chairman, treasurer, secretary and one external affairs board member. Four energetic board members who stand for fair and equal treatment of every DUWO tenant from The Hague. We meet once a week. Some weeks we do this on the basis of an official agenda, others we discuss the course of events and can give each board member an update on the issues he or she is working on. Fun and team development are of great importance to us! We have a nice office on the Stamkartplein where we used to have a weekly meeting before the corona crisis and to have a beer with each other.

Who are we looking for?
Are you someone who is organized? Do you like to be involved in financial matters? Maybe the position of ‘treasurer’ is something for you then!
As treasurer, you are in charge of finance. You make sure that all finances are well organised. Through your role as treasurer, you can enable the association to carry out everything the association wants to do. You are responsible for the money in the association and give advice on how to use the budget. The money of the association belongs to the tenants. It is therefore only being spend in the interest of the tenant. That is why the money must be treated with respect.

You make sure that all expenses are accounted for and that everything is kept up to date. You show that the expenditure benefits the tenant. In addition, you actively think along with other board members about how to do even better justice to the tenant’s interests. It is a plus if you speak and write fluent Dutch.

Tasks and responsibilities
– Preparation of the budget and annual financial report
– Keeping accounts
– Paying invoices
– Approve or reject claims
– Recruiting a treasury committee
– Presentation budget/financial annual report at general meeting of members
– Attend site meetings with DUWO 1x per quarter
– Attendance at meetings 1x per week

Practical
You will spend an average of 5-10 hours a week on this job, with peak moments around the writing of the budget/annual financial report and fewer hours in the other months.

There will be a fixed compensation of about 200 euros for the tasks you will be carrying out. The first month will be a trial month, in which you will not yet receive compensation, because you will mainly be working with the current board member performing this function.

The job interviews will take place in the last week of November. The job will start on 1 January 2021. Two weeks after the start of your probationary period, we will have an informal meeting to see how it goes and above all what you think of it! We will do this again at the end of January. After this, you will be able to start working on your new position in February!

Who are we looking for?
You are an enthusiastic student who is eager to learn and brings their energetic and innovative flow to the board! Networking is not a problem for you; talking to DUWO’s social administrators or student administrators only gives you more energy. With the information you receive from the various parties, you control and promote DUWO’s policy. This can be done by means of the discussions or in a stricter way by means of unsolicited advice. You are also the first point of contact for our Members. You will receive a telephone from the association with which you can keep the strings tight with the members. You encourage contact with members and try to maintain this contact. Since this year we have been working with an administration system where you can contact members in a direct way (via e-mail). This offers many opportunities to implement your own ideas. In consultation with the board, you will partly maintain the socials of our association, such as Facebook, Instagram and of course our website. During the board meeting once a week, you will tell the board what you have done and if you still need help in certain areas. Maybe you need a budget for a sustainability action? It is a plus if you speak and write fluent Dutch.

– Connection between Members – De Eerste Kamer – DUWO
– Management of complaint processing
– Holding and promoting possible residents’ meetings
– Owner of the administration programme (LASSO) on the member side
– Maintaining socials, in consultation with the board
– Attend site meetings with DUWO 1x per quarter
– Attendance at meetings 1x per week

Practical
You will spend an average of 5-10 hours per week on this job.
